TONY VISCONTI HEADS SPEAKER LINE-UP AT LONDON CALLING

• World-renowned producer confirmed as Big Interview at London music event
• Big issues under the spotlight include Brands & Bands, Technology & Innovation and Music Business 2.0

London Calling, the world’s fastest growing international music business event, has confirmed one of the world’s most influential and versatile music producers, Tony Visconti, as a Big Interview in its programme of industry speakers.

Visconti joins IFPI Chairman, John Kennedy, and WIN’s Alison Wenham, who will be considering Modelling The New Music Economy, as well as a top Warner Music Group executive in London Calling’s Big Interview line-up.

Visconti and the other Big Interviews headline The Forum education programme at London Calling which provides a rare opportunity to pick the brains and the sharpest minds of those shaping the future of the music industry in the digital age.

Tony Visconti has helped shape music over four decades and recently published his critically-acclaimed autobiography Bowie, Bolan and the Brooklyn Boy charting his early days as a performer, relocation to England as a producer in the late 60s, and development of his pivotal artistic relationships from Bowie and Bolan through to Morrissey’s 2006 Ringleader of the Tormentors.

London Calling features a world-class line-up of speakers plus a major, future-facing exhibition jam-packed with new ideas, new music and new technologies.

It is the fastest growing music industry event in the world and the only one exclusively focused on the impact and opportunities of the digital revolution which is turning the music industry on its head. This is certainly a world Visconti is part of: “I still use tape and vintage equipment, combined with the very latest digital technology available,” he said.

“Why go digital? I come from a breed of musical technicians that couldn't live without getting the latest technology on the market.”

In addition to the Big Interviews, The Forum at London Calling will cover three main streams:
• Brands & Bands – where advertising gurus, brand owners and experts look at how they embrace music and how the music industry can benefit
• Technology & Innovation – examining how the next generation of technologies will affect the way the music industry does business
• Music Business 2.0 – looking at the new entrants and new opportunities arriving from all directions

Other leading speakers at London Calling include Umut Ozaydinli, Coca-Cola’s Music Marketing Manager, Afdhel Aziz, Nokia Europe’s Music & Entertainment Manager, Gerard Grech, Strategy & Business Development Director at Orange / France Telecom, Prefueled founder Christian Marstrander, Royalty Share Chairman & CEO Bob Kohn, and Rob Wetstone, eMusic VP.

According to David Conway, a partner at London Calling, "London Calling is the one event this summer where delegates can hear, see, touch and experience the future of music business. It’s the meeting place for labels, managers, distributors, forward-thinking brands, service providers, and technology companies from all over the world who are determining the shape of the new music economy.”

London Calling also features a packed line-up of showcases, gigs, parties and a stream of networking events and industry gatherings including AIM (the Association of Independent Music), IMPALA, WIN (Worldwide Independent Network) and ERA (the Entertainment Retailers Association).
